The best book I have read is “ Brothers In Arm” by Paul Langan. I can easily explain the whole book, and tell you why this book is important but I’d you to read it. The big white van turned the corner, bam! Bam! Bam! Martins life changed forever. In the book “Brothers In Arm” Martin Luna is deep trouble. Just a couple months ago a horrible tragedy took his little brothers life away, and threatened to take him too.

The book I read was called lucky by Alice Sebold. My book was a memoir based on a true story its about this 18 year old girl named Alice as she’s walking to her dorm from her friends house at 12:00am through the park she hears foot steps behind her as she try’s walking faster a man gets her and covers her mouth. She’s try’s to scream but the man tells her is she screams he’s going to kill her Alice is scared and tells the man to please not to do anything to her she tells him that she has only 8 dollars in her bag pack to take them and to let her go. The man said he didn’t want them Alice try’s to break lose she bites the man on his hands the man lets her go because his in pain she makes a run for it but doesn’t get far the man gets her by the hair and pulls her down the floor and starts beating her up really bad. My favorite part was when they are in the courtroom Alice is on the stand talking about the night she was raped in the park she was very brave. I recommend this book this book to anyone I really enjoyed this book. You will enjoy this book if you read it. -Kimberly Moreno This autobiography is called "Wayne" by Wayne Theodore who reveals gruesome details of his childhood which consist of six siblings, a cruel abusive father and a mother who didn't have the strength to help. A scene in this book that I will never forget is when Wayne's father nearly kills him when he was six years old. While his father is beating him and drowning him, Wayne makes a promise to himself that he will make it through the abuse and he will reveal his father's doing to the world. I recommend this book to anyone who likes o read autobiographies or likes to read stories of survival. This book will leave you appreciating what you have and wanting to help those in need. Desiree Martinez The book I read was ‘Gym Candy’ by Carl Deuker. The book is about a teenage boy named Mick Johnson who loves to play football. Along with Mick, Drew is a football star at his high school. Mick is the running back and Drew is the quarterback. They are best friends and spend most of the day at each other’s houses. They both wanted to get stronger so they ended up taking supplements and steroids to get bigger. They thought they could’ve got away with it but the coach ask for a physical and that’s when they started to freak out. Both ended up getting caught and were kicked out of the football team. My favorite park of the book was when it described how intense their hell week was. I could relate to that because when I tried out for the soccer team it was really intense. I ended up sore the next day just like Mick did. I would recommend the book to people who play football or to people who have the idea of taking supplements pills. Overall, this book was great. It showed how competitive Mick was and how football was his life. Unfortunately, he made bad decisions at the end that ended up costing him to not get scouted and make it to a good college and play there. His chances of becoming a professional football player were limited. This has to be my second favorite book. Great book and really fun to read!
-Christopher Garcia The book I read was sold by Patricia McCormick witch is nonfiction book. The book is about a 13 year old girl whose name is Lakshmi. His step dad tricks her that she was going to the city to be a maid, but little did she know she would be sold to prostitution. My favorite part of the book is Lakshmi get help and risk it knowing if she gets caught she would get brutal punishment. I recommend this book because the author describes everything. I hope you read and enjoy the book Sold by Patricia McCormick.
-Jesus Hernandez A CHILD CALLED “IT” by Dave Pelzer. This book was about a kid named David. He was an innocent six year all this happened. His alcoholic mother would torture him everyday. She wouldn’t treat him like her son, she would treat him like a slave. She wouldn’t feed him everyday if he didn’t finish his chores. She would say that he was a bad boy. My favorite part of the book is when David stood up to his mom. I recommend this book because its very interesting and it’s a true story.
-Aurora Fernandez The book that I've read was called "The Fault In Our Stars" by John Green. The book is about a young girl named Hazel Grace and a young boy named Augustus Waters, who had different cancer conditions. Hazel and Augustus meet at a cancer support group and fell in love. My favorite part was when Augustus gave his wish to Hazel so she could be able to meet Peter Van Houten who wrote her favorite book. I recommend this book because even though people have an illness and want to be left alone there is someone out there who wants to change the way you feel about yourself and won't judge you and they would also be there thru everything no matter how hard the situation is. It's a very amazing ending and its some what as the movie but the book has more details than the movie.
Guadalupe Garcia A book that I recently read that I really enjoyed was “Into The Wild” by Jon Krakauer. I read it because it was a book that my teacher required me to read for our class assignments. I did not know that I would grow to enjoy it very much.
Its genre would be classified as non-fiction. This novel was very different from a lot of books I have read in the past. The book’s focus was on the main character Christopher McCandless and his journey to live in the wild in Alaska. Many people that he met throughout the whole novel did not understand why he was so motivated to Alaska because of the wealth he was surrounded by. Even Chris’s parents did not understand his drive to get away from civilization. Chris’s parents describe him as acting like a normal boy while he was growing up. It was in college that he began to become disillusioned by his parent’s wealth and with society. His friends described him as becoming an outcast and spending all of his time reading instead of going to parties or socializing. That was my favorite part of the book because that is when Chris begins to make a lot of realizations and I liked seeing him grow as a person because then I could personally connect to what he was thinking while he attended college. I wish I could have personally met Chris because he sounds like he was a great person. I recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure and reading about personal growth or “finding” yourself. It was very amazing to read about his journey through the United States to get to Alaska. Even though the ending might disappoint people, it is still a great novel and should be read by everyone. - Kristin Ortega The book I am going to be reviewing is called "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" by Stephen Chbosky. The book is about a boy named Charlie who is dealing with the loss of his friend Michael which he grew up with in school. Charlie writes journal entries to let out his emotions and tells stories to an anonymous stranger as he goes through them in high school with new people. My favorite part is when Charlie goes to his first high school party. At first he doesn't know what he is doing there but then he gets into the party mode by eating a "bud brownie". He later can think of nothing but wanting a milkshake and after he gets his milk shake the people at the party make a toast to Charlie celebrating that he is a wallflower and he understands things. If you like to read about the things teenagers go through and the things they have to face in high school, I really recommend you to read this book. Again I hope you read the book "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" by Stephen Chbosky.
Jason Godoy The book I am reading is named “A child called it “ By Dave Pelzer. A child called it” By Dave Pelzer is about a boy named Dave who was beaten and starved by his own alcoholic mother who “played” many “games” to torture him until she nearly left him dead. I didn’t have favorite part i think the mother was a horrible person and shouldn’t have done any of these horrible things to a innocent child. If you are against child abuse or had gone through a situation like Dave's it will interest you. I recommend you read this book.
