The Martian is about astronaut Mark Watney. He and his team embark on a mission to Mars. An unexpected storm hits the landing site. The team makes their way back to the getaway ship while Watney is left behind, presumed dead. The book is about Watney’s day to day life being stuck on Mars. You get to read about the struggles he’s forced to endure and whether or not he overcomes them. You also get a parallel view from the people back on Earth who are in charge of bringing Watney home.My favorite parts of the book are the scenes that take place on Earth. While Watney is struggling for everyday survival, the works at NASA are working day and night to figure out a solution to bring him home. If you love books about survival, or books with comedic characters this book is great. There’s also a lot of science and math terms used in the book. Watney is a positive character, usually, and is also very funny. The Martian is incredibly entertaining, with great characters and a dynamic plot.

The book I picked out is called Who Moved My Cheese by Spencer Johnson. It was publish by G.P Putnam’s Sons. Who Moved My Cheese helps you notice things in life and how not to let the something’s stop you. Each chapter it shows you really powerful quotes that he writes to help others. My favorite part of the book was when he wrote his quote “The Quicker You Let Go of the Old Cheese, The Sooner You Find New Cheese.” That quote helps me notice that sometimes you have to let go of things or memories because you can make new ones. I recommend the book Who Moved My Cheese because it’s a really good book and it will give a better way to look at life. Really good you should read it.
-Leslie G. The book I am reading is called “The Boys”, by Skip Bayless. This book is about the Dallas Cowboys. This is mainly about the history of the Cowboys. Its goes back to the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s. The book mainly talks about the organization of the Cowboys, the types of seasons the team had, big injuries the team took, or any major trades. The book is also about the teams successes and failures, and of course, its Superbowl wins and its outstanding 90’s run. My favorite part is when the book talks about the 90’s! I connect to this book because I play football and I have been through similar things myself and with my team. I recommend any Cowboys fans, any sports fans, or any football fans to read this book. You will love this book! To whoever reads this book, in hope you enjoy it!
-Justin A. A book that I recently read that I really enjoyed was “Into The Wild” by Jon Krakauer. I read it because it was a book that my teacher required me to read for our class assignments. I did not know that I would grow to enjoy it very much. Its genre would be classified as non-fiction. This novel was very different from a lot of books I have read in the past. The book’s focus was on the main character Christopher McCandless and his journey to live in the wild in Alaska. Many people that he met throughout the whole novel did not understand why he was so motivated to Alaska because of the wealth he was surrounded by. Even Chris’s parents did not understand his drive to get away from civilization. Chris’s parents describe him as acting like a normal boy while he was growing up. It was in college that he began to become disillusioned by his parent’s wealth and with society. His friends described him as becoming an outcast and spending all of his time reading instead of going to parties or socializing. That was my favorite part of the book because that is when Chris begins to make a lot of realizations and I liked seeing him grow as a person because then I could personally connect to what he was thinking while he attended college. I wish I could have personally met Chris because he sounds like he was a great person. I recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure and reading about personal growth or “finding” yourself. It was very amazing to read about his journey through the United States to get to Alaska. Even though the ending might disappoint people, it is still a great novel and should be read by everyone. The book that I read was the Cather in the Rye by J.D. Salinger. This is a very great book to read. The book is about a student who attends different schools because of his academic behavior. He talks about his life as well. My favorite part in the Cather in the Rye would be when he goes to a bar and dances with a group of girls. If you like adventures books then the Cather in the Rye is the book you would enjoy reading. The Catcher in the Rye is one of my favorite books of all time!
-Aaron Lopez The book the “The Party Room” by Morgan Burke. The book is about friends who hang out and go party. One of the friends goes missing. One of the girls she’s friends with gets worried and tries to find out what happen to her. The part where the friends hang out and have fun. It reminds me of my friends and I. I liked this book and I recommend it to anyone who likes mystery. I hope you read this amazing book by Morgan Burke.
-Cristy Flores The book I read and want to introduce to you is Homeboyz. This book is about a guy named Dixon Theodore Anderson but his street name is T-Bear a.k.a Teddy. Teddy lost his sister by gang violence and he wants revenge for whoever murdered his sister. My favorite part of this book was when Teddy hacked into a school and managed to steal money during probation hours. I recommend this book to anyone who likes violence and gang relative activities. This book caught my attention because it reminds me of the neighborhood I grew up in which is Boyle Heights.

It all starts off as Brent the main character of the story also the author being the praised child. the child who is going to succeed with so many high expectations something goes terribly wrong. Brent's whole life is going to change. When something ignites it usually terribly bad, in this case Brents the one that ignites. You wont regret it!!! -Edgar Enriquez Over the aspect of a few weeks I’ve come to finish a book called “The chronicles of Nick: Infinity.” It is a fiction supernatural book full of surprises that readers will come to enjoy. The book tells of a young boy Nick Gautier who is a average kid, he’s smart and strong willed, but his life isn’t exactly as good as its meant out to be, he has a striper for a mother and is determined to protect her, but on a faithful night Nick gets caught up with the wrong crowd as he takes place in the robbing of a elderly couple, but things go sour as his life is forever changed as Kyrian Hunter is now introduced. Nick is exposed to the true natures of the world and soon learned that life is never as it seems, he learns of his true nature and the dark powers that are within. Nick fights to remain pure along side Caleb and the gang as an evil now emerges from ground under, but little does he know the battle is not just from the outside. The battle is also deep within him.
The story creates a connection of sense of knowledge and helps build esteem as you come across the personal stories of everyone. It helps you view life in another perspective. If you’re a fan of paranormal fiction then this is the book for you! It creates a wild ride that will make sure you will surely get into the story. The moral is to proclaim, don’t ever let other people or personal conditions get the best of you, let that be the opportunity to truly shows what you really want out of life. -Beatriz Juarez |
